Hype Yourself Up
Alright so I randomly decided I'm going to make this "Let's Get Personal" moment that we just recently started having and making it the start of Season 2 of The Beast Within. I felt like it was necessary because I truly feel as though this time around, we're about to get real raw with each other (that's what she said). I have a habit of taking a step back from recording when I'm not in the best of spirits but what I have come to realize is that I wanna talk about my pain and struggles too. Not when it's over and done with but as it's happening (maybe not right at the exact second but after I've "gotten over it). Not everything is picture perfect and social media likes to make it seem like everybody's life is a magazine from careers to relationships, nobody is being transparent enough for me. As someone who preaches about vulnerability and self awareness - I'm going to be my own example.
This second episode of Season 2 is all about giving yourself props even on your worst days because that is when you need it the most. Somebody asked me what was the purpose behind the birth of The Beast Within and my answer was "to show these women (and men) what life after abuse is like." I want to be able to give y'all some incentive and something to look forward to as you sit there and wonder what's on the other side of that abusive relationship... what's on the other side is love... real love and self love, healing and laughter, smiles and success. I know that narcissists get their supply from breaking down strong, beautiful women through their mind games which causes emotional trauma. As much as I would like to sit here and keep telling you what I went through 7 years ago, I am not that person anymore but what I will continue to do is tell my story and create a safe space and a platform for others to tell their stories so y'all can see living proof of how we, as survivors, have moved on. The process is gruesome but it is so worth it. So as I sit here and get personal with y'all, I wanted to share an L that I recently just took where I was bawling my eyes out for a good two hours wondering why it didn't work out. I had to remind myself that I'm not going to make every shot that I take. Did y'all know that Kobe Bryant (RIP Black Mamba) missed over 14K shots and yet he is still one of the GOATs in the NBA. Do you see where I'm going with this?
You can't be scared of failure to the point where you're stagnant. You can't be such a perfectionist that you hold yourself back. You can't let your insecurities and your fear control you. Stop the self doubt, stop comparing yourself to others, stop talking to yourself negatively, stop humbling yourself and toot your muhfuckin' horn. You are the bomb. You are beautiful, amazing and courageous. Be kind when you talk to yourself. When things don't go your way, it's because it is not aligned with your path. God may be protecting you from something you don't even see but what I do see is Him never leaving my side by continuously blessing me and those around me. Give yourself flowers and stop dimming your own light just because others are comfortable in their darkness. Surround yourself with those who genuinely want to see you win, whether or not they benefit from your victories, who cheer for you and hype you up.
